The philosophy behind our brand is reusing and recycling products to create our clothing. We take used plastic bottles from landfill sites and grind these down, then blend with yarn to create our fabrics. We are also working to reduce food waste, taking banana and pineapple skins doing essential the same process. By the end of 2021 we will have a whole range made entirely from fruit peels.

Why are we doing this?

Here are a few alarming statistic....

The fashion industry accounts for over 10% of our carbon omissions, and this number is growing rapidly.

Fast fashion has become the new normal. Brands and stores releasing new products almost on a weekly basis and consumers rapidly buying at a rate of 60% more then what they did in the year 2000. This means more waste when items are discarded and high carbon omissions.

By the year 2050, based on our current consumption there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish. This is incredibly alarming and concerning. We need to take action now to ensure this doesn't happen.

Our goal for 2021 is to remove 200,000 plastic bottles from landfill. But simply recycling plastic is not enough. We must to more. Thats why we are working to become a carbon neutral company.

What exactly is Carbon Neutral?

We are glad you asked. Carbon neutrality, refers to achieving net zero carbon dioxide emissions by balancing carbon dioxide emissions with carbon removal or simply eliminating carbon dioxide emissions altogether.

Steps we are taking...

We are working to become a sustainable company. Climate change is real and the fashion industry, particularly fast fashion is having damaging effects. As a fashion business we are working to do our part. It all starts with our material, we choose plastic bottles as our main material source. This decision was based on sustainability at the forefront. Our products are of the highest quality and made to last. Thereby minimising the need to replace or throw out. We are working to offset our carbon omissions through our manufacturing and delivery processes. All of our packaging is reusable and can be thrown into the compost when you are done.

This is just the start. By the end of 2021 Class of 84 Clothing is working to become a fully sustainable and carbon neutral company.
